Help us Design a New Children’s & Teen Space

NEW CHILDREN’S & TEEN SPACE

Glendale Library, Arts & Culture wants to create a new space for Children and Teens at Central Library! We want to hear your thoughts and incorporate your input on what you would want to see in the spaces.

On March 9, 2021, City Council awarded a professional services agreement to Johnson Favaro, LLP for architectural and engineering services for a remodel of the Children’s and Teen Spaces at the Central Library. Public Works, Johnson Favaro and GLAC have moved the project through the schematic phase, which includes evaluating the present state of the spaces, verifying programmatic needs, defining zones, etc.; this represents 15% of the design process. The work has moved into design development, which includes gathering public input. GLAC has partnered with Community Services and Parks to connect with youth in their Teen Night Out program through surveys, and we will be reaching out to engage GUSD and other community organizations in the feedback process. We are inviting the community at large to join us at two virtual public meetings:

Parents, caregivers, teachers, and kids are invited to join us online and be a part of planning a space that children and families will love for years to come.

Tell Us What You Want in a New Teen Space at Central Library

Saturday, September 11th, 1pm – 2:30pm

RSVP Online

This meeting will focus on presenting preliminary plans for the creation of an exciting new Teen Space for youth ages 13-18.  There will be many opportunities for attendees to share their opinions and feedback.  Teens are invited to join us online and be part of planning a space where they can hang out, study, play and experiment.  Parents and adults who work with teens are welcome to join and listen.

The more feedback we receive, the more likely it is the teen space will reflect what your needs and interests are. We have a survey, along with the online meeting coming up. Don’t be shy! In addition, by completing the survey, you can opt in to be in the running to win a Target gift card. Better hurry! The survey will only be up for a limited time. By attending the event and answering all the questions on the survey, you will receive two hours of community service credit! Be sure to enter your name and the best way to contact you on question 8 of the survey to be eligible.
