COMPUTERS

Desktop Computers

Desktop computers are available on a first-come-first-serve basis at our open locations.

No reservations needed if computers are available.

To reserve a computer in advance, please visit this page.

Computers can be used for an initial 120-minute session.

Unlimited 30-minute increments of time will be added on until a reservation has been placed on the computer.

Library card and PIN number are needed for reservations and for login.

About computer reservations:

  • To reserve a computer in advance, please visit this page.

  • All computers can be used for an initial 120-minute session.

  • Unlimited 30-minute increments of time will be added on until a reservation has been placed on the computer.

  • Reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance.

  • You must login within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time or your reservation will be cancelled.

  • Computer reservations can be made for up to 60 minutes per reservation. To reserve an additional 60 minutes up to a total of daily 180 minutes, click "Reserve Another Computer" after you confirm the first reservation.

  • Consecutive reservations are cancelled together.

 

Connecting to the Library's Wi-Fi

All open Library locations offer free wireless access (Wi-Fi) in public areas. You may also access our Wi-Fi in the areas immediately adjacent to all of our locations.

Connecting to the City of Glendale's Wireless Network

  • You must have a computer or other mobile device equipped with an 802.11b/g-compatible wireless card.

  • Using your computer's network utilities, look for the wireless network named Library Net.

  • The Library Net wireless network does not require a password to connect. Please carefully read the City of Glendale's Wireless Service Agreement and Terms to use the wireless service.

  • Laptops may be plugged into any available electrical outlet. Please ask our staff if you cannot find an electrical outlet. The Library does not have network ports available for laptops to connect to the Internet.

Limitations and Disclaimers Regarding Wireless Access

  • The City of Glendale’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software.

  • Please carefully read the City of Glendale’s Wireless Network Service Agreement and Terms of Use before using the wireless service.

  • Library staff is not able to provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a wireless connection.

  • The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the City of Glendale’s network.

PRINTING

PRINTING COSTS
At this time, the charges for printing are as follows:

$0.10/page - Black & White
$0.50/page - Color

$1 is credited per library account per day
The $1 dollar printing credit may be used towards:
10 pages of Black & White prints, 2 pages of Color prints, or any variation that totals $1 dollar

Additional prints may be paid for at the print release station or service desk and are priced:
$0.10/page - Black & White
$0.50/page - Color

Submit your files for printing by accessing this page.

Items can be picked up from any open location and will remain in the print queue for twelve hours.

Please view our Locations & Hours for current branch hours and changes to our service hours including holiday closures.

Print virtually any document or web page from your Internet connected PC to one of our Library printers by following the steps below:

  • Upload the file you wish to print to this page.

  • Select the printer you wish to print from and enter your email address.

  • Browse your device to find and select the file you wish to print.

  • Select either Black & White or Color printing.

  • Click the green print icon. You will see the status of your print job and a reference number.

  • Wait a few minutes and go to a print release station.

  • At the release station, select Release a Print Job and enter the email address you supplied when submitting the print job.

  • If you don’t see your print job, please stop by the main service desk at one of our open locations and ask a staff member to check on and, if needed, release you print job. Service desk staff will need the email address you supplied when submitting the print job.

Printing costs:

  • There is a $1 print credit added to each library account per day.

  • The $1 dollar printing credit may be used towards:

    • 10 pages of Black & White prints,

    • 2 pages of Color prints,

    • or any variation that totals $1 dollar.

  • Additional prints are priced as follows:

    • $0.10/page - Black & White

    • $0.50/page - Color

With PrinterOn cloud printing solutions, you only need to download the PrinterOn Android or iOS mobile printing app to have immediate access to thousands of PrinterOn-enabled printers around the world or your office printers. Visit your device’s ‘store’ for apps, install and launch the PrinterOn App.

  • Click No printer selected.

  • Click Search.

    • Search by location: Use your device’s Location Services to locate nearby printers, or search specific geographic locations.

    • Search by keyword: Search the PrinterOn Directory for a printer with specific printer name.

    • Search for network printers: You can also use the network discovery features to scan your local network for available printers.

    • Search for secured printers: Configure the mobile app with server and user account information and you can restrict your search to those printers you are authorized to access.

  • Find your preferred Library Branch e.g. “Glendale Public Library Downtown Central” and click “Black and White” and save.
    To print:

    • Documents: when viewing the document, click in the upper right corner and upload the document to the PrinterOn App.

    • Photos from your phone: open the app, click on “photo” and select a photo to print.

    • Select the printer and click the print icon.

    • Enter an email address and click on the check mark (you will receive a notice that the job started, and shortly after another message stating “Job Success”).

    • Please go to the main service desk at one of our open locations and ask a staff member to release you print job.

    • Service desk staff will need the email address you supplied when submitting the print job.

Printing costs:

  • There is a $1 print credit added to each library account per day.

  • The $1 dollar printing credit may be used towards:

    • 10 pages of Black & White prints,

    • 2 pages of Color prints,

    • or any variation that totals $1 dollar.

For Black and White copies, email attachments to gpl-central-library-bw@printspots.com.

For Color copies, email attachments to gpl-central-library-color@printspots.com.

  • Wait a few minutes and go to a print release station.

  • At the release station, select Release a Print Job and enter the email address you used to email the print job with.

  • If you don’t see your print job, please stop by the main service desk at one of our open locations and ask a staff member to check on and, if needed, release you print job. Service desk staff will need the email address you supplied when submitting the print job.

COPYING & SCANNING

Making Copies at the Library

Photocopying and scanning are available at each of our open locations.

You may use any of the KIC Machines we have available at our open locations.

Those machines are scanners/copiers.

You may select the type of document, whether it is black-and-white or color, as well as the number of pages and copies you are scanning/copying.

Feel free to ask a service desk staff for assistance on using the scanner/copier.
