APRIL 2023

Join Library, Arts & Culture, and the City of Glendale’s Office of Sustainability to celebrate Earth Day and learn about sustainability and climate resilience.  These events are part of the Sustainable California Libraries grant program, which is supported in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

A GUIDE TO CLIMATE REVOLUTION

How do we talk about the climate crisis with youth? What society-wide changes can we work towards at home and in our City to tackle the climate crisis and climate justice? Join us for a presentation by Mary DeMocker, author of The Parents’ Guide to Climate Revolution: 100 Ways to Build a Fossil-Free Future, Raise Empowered Kids, and Still Get a Good Night’s Sleep, and a panel of youth climate activists on how we can work together for a thriving future for all. 

SHAPING THE ENERGY FUTURE OF GLENDALE

Joins us for an evening presentation on how to revolutionize and build resilience in our energy and power systems in Glendale by Ted Flannigan, energy expert and founder of EcoMotion, followed by a panel of energy experts and community leaders.

Grow your sustainability tools by learning to make minor repairs to your clothing.  You will learn hand-sewing techniques to sew on buttons, repair holes and make hems.  Bring something to class to mend together!

Join us at Glendale Central Library's auditorium and learn how to fix everyday household items and treasured pieces. Come to Repair Café to learn from the volunteer Repair Café coaches how to fix household appliances, hobbyist equipment, toys, textiles, and more!
